Dear Builder! Do you want to participate in a K'NEX contest to win cool prizes?


Participate now by building a K'NEX tower consisting of maximum 50 pieces!
The challenge is to make the tower as high as possible, but it must be able to support 4 Large K'NEX wheels on top! (weight: 202 grams / 7.12 ounces, see image below)


Rules:

• Maximum use of 50 pieces; this may be any of the pieces pictured below (see 2nd image)
• The tower must be able to support 4 Large K'NEX wheels for at least 2 minutes
• Only one submission for every KnexFlux member allowed
• Submissions must be submitted before the enddate: 15th of July 2017, at 13:00 hours (UTC +01:00 (Amsterdam time))
• Submissions must be re-buildable by the organisator to validate the design. Clear photos, a video or full instructions must therefore be provided! If this isn't the case, the organisator will let you know and will allow you to update or add extra photos.
• Submissions must be a Personal Message to @GWorks including photo's and/or links to the video. This can be done with imgur, https://img.ourl.ca or any other such site and then in your PM, link to the picture you've made.
  OR: you can send an e-mail to gworksmocs@gmail.com
• Participants must include at least a total part count, preferably a piece-by-piece count. This will make judging a lot faster.
• If you don't have 4 Large K'NEX Wheels, you may use a similar weight, but show it in the pictures.

Prizes:

• First Prize: 20€ (or equivalent in your currency)
• Second Prize: 10€
• Third Prize: 5€

• Most Beautiful tower: Mention in profile (will be selected by public poll after the competition)
• Strongest tower: Mention in profile
• Least pieces used: Mention in profile

Testing & Judging:


The towers will be built by @GWorks to validate the design. The towers will be replicated identically.
First the weight on top of the tower will be the required 4 large wheels (202 grams), if the tower passes the test, more wheels will be added, until the tower breaks/falls over.
To show the judging has been done in a fair way, the tests will be filmed and the final result will be put in a video.
It is possible to win both a money-prize and a title-prize.

Clearing up some questions here:


* Prizes will most likely be money, not K'NEX sets
* Well, I see a title as a prize... that makes it 6 prizes. You can win both money and title, I'd say.

* Yes, it's possible that when I build your tower, it can fall over (when it aaaalmost, but doesn't at your house)I can say I will use normal pieces, no weak or damaged pieces. But you'll have to trust me on that.
* I've added a picture of what I mean by "Large Wheel" at the bottom of my post.


Austron's questions:
"Am I allowed to build a base and stack up 25 Big Air Ball Machine tubes one on top of each other? Because they're official pieces"
* Yes, they're official pieces. They're rare, but that would give an unfair advantage over beginner builders or anyone without 5 big air ball sets (almost everyone participating) So therefore I decide that I will list which pieces can be used. That will make chances more equal for everyone.

Thanks for your help, but I have one more question. Do I make regular instructions for the tower, or do I just PM you a few pics of the tower? I have my tower ready, (I think) now it is just to wait for July 1st...

PM the picks or a video or something.

This is to not give those who enter late an unfair advantage by checking how your tower looks like.

Here's an important update of the rules:
Only the pieces used in the picture below may be used. I've done this, so that the chances will be more equal for builders with a lot of K'NEX and builders who are just starting, alike.
Included are the most standard pieces of both normal and micro K'NEX.


A further explenation by how to stack the Large Wheels on top of the tower is shown by the second picture. A yellow rod must be used, this is part of the piece count.
