K'nex Ball Machine No.3
« on: March 26, 2016, 11:02:52 am »
Hello  ;)  My ball machine that I am working on is getting massive, however my bedroom is extremely small so I have hardly and space. I'm not allowed to expand it horizontally any further, so i need some relatively small vertical elements. I cannot find much that would fit because the ball machine will be so compact! Some paths may have to merge into one another. I haven't made much progress because I have been very ill  :'(  . 1 path is complete and paths 2 & 3 are nearly complete. Paths 4 & 5 have a couple of bits made. I took a picture after every bit of progress. Here it is:
*Sorry for the low quality of some pictures  :-\ *

Looking good! I haven't seen the mouse-wheel lift in ages.
You could build a path that is almost vertical, and this gives the ball enough speed to do a triple loopdeloop.
Also, you've probably seen this, but just in case you haven't: http://www.instructables.com/id/The-Official-Guide-to-Knex-Ball-Machine-Elements/

Thanks  ;)  I cannot do the loop because the only tubing I have, has already been used  :-\ . I have seen the guide, but thanks anyway, in fact I'm pretty sure I've seen every guide  ;D

You can try yourself on a loop without tubing like I did in Apocalpyse ;)

Anyhow, for element ideas I usually watch a lot of youtube videos.....also the lego ball thingy ones.

Looks awesome so far! I know this may be boring, but there's no better way to get a ball down than a free fall. I know, boring, but that's all I can think of. I suck at doing low density elements. :P

XD I was thinking of having a whole path which is a freefall with some stuff on the walls of it so it is less boring. I'm seriously running out odf space in the ball machine. I have a tiny amount of red rods left so I cannot add scaffolding, making it extra hard! I may make one path of network 1/2 go back into the same network. What do you think?

You could add flippers on the side. They don't require a lot of scaffold.

@Linkin_J_Knex That's a good idea, and usually that's what k'nexers do. In fact, you should have at least one path from each network go to another network. Let's say you have 3 networks. Each network should have ⅓ of the paths go to each network, be it network 1, 2, or 3, in which case they would recirculate. In short, have paths work together. :)

In the end,  I didn't. I made the paths go to their other respective network. The video will  start production soon,  and hopefully the video and ible will be complete within this month. Afterwards, Im planning on bringing my content up to a higher standard. I see people like Sandro, gworks, blue mullet (not ONLY them,  Im just trying to get a range of knexers )with a lot higher quality builds,  ibles and videos. School is always in the way though! I have  so many builds planned. Unfortunately,  my current ball machine is extremely unreliable :-/ I expect lots of takes at filming it xD. Also,  what was your opinion on the music of my previous ball machine,  3xodus? I may use some more linkin park.  My profile logo is based of linkin parks logo  ;D.
Oh,  and I thought of the name "Fr33style! "What do you think? Are the 3s unnecessary?
