General Knex Discussion / Re: Favorite K'nex Videos
« on: May 07, 2016, 09:46:41 am »
I agree with all of Mathsboys suggestions definitely recommend yardking42 and Thibaults ball machines!
Metropolis is of course a classic and Shadowmans recent video on his new ball machine Citadel I think is inspiring
I also have found several lego ball lifts that would work well as knex lifts if they could be made on a yt channel called Akiyuky whicch are a good source of inspiration for lifts

After looking at that picture for about 5mins I have a few ideas of what is happening in it but I'm not sure I only have one question.
Is the metal looking frame in the left of the picture what this machine is going to be mounted on?

That looks like it has a whole host of mechanical possibilities within ball machines I already am having ideas  :D
Is the project you are using it for for the brickworld machine or just something on the side?

Hi and welcome yay more people from the UK on this website!
how old is the engine in the two vids? Could you use it to maybe power a giant K'nex ferris wheel or something similar (providing you had the pieces?)

I agree when I saw this video I thought of that programmable car/robot thing
I think with a few tweaks to make it more compact this does have some real potential I am definitely going to look at making a robotic lift using this kind of idea once I finish my current bm :D

General Knex Discussion / Re: Music for Ball Machine Videos

Most of the time I just look around on yt on non copyright music channels. I always try and find music that suits the style of the video I want to make :)

Thats so cool. I've built a few guns but never really anything serious. I like the mag design and to have all you've said going on inside it it must be really compact!

Ah me too when I finished my last bm and started on my one now I knew I wouldn't have nearly enough pieces to finish it so all the knex I get I just put into the bm and when I'm finished I'll probably have enough knex to build whatever I want  ;D  Its cool that you were collecting knex even when you weren't building with it I'm looking forward to the machine then  :o

Yh its been over a year and I don't have a name either I may just call it 2016 bm tbh?

Yh but even if the entry path is short it doesn't really save any space because the arm will still take up basically all of the space? I assume to space save was the aim of this lift?

Ah why not it would fit with your last machine to name it after the year you built it?  :)

Yh my ferris wheel didnt make a noise until it smashed me on the head I made sure this time I had more than enough support everywhere
Have you collected any more knex since your last machine or has it got the same number of pieces?

Ah I look forward to seeing the new and improved bm then do you have any idea what to call it yet or will it be called the 2016 bm? ;D

Yh it had a giant ferris wheel right over my head which collapsed on me in the night. Now whenever I'm building anything over my head I always make sure I overbuild it  :)

Cool, I like the design but doesn't it still take up the same space? I mean sure the start path is shorter but the arm still means you cant have any paths going across it?

It used to have good gun instructions on it but it got taken down around 2011-12 I think...
