Other Discussions / PLEASE READ: Selling My Collection!
« on: August 02, 2018, 05:59:40 pm »
Hey Knexflux!
The time has come to sell my K'nex. After many years if buying, building and holding onto it, it finally has to go.

There are an estimated 18,120 pieces which (in their current storage) amasses to 42.72kg worth of K'nex. Many of which are uncommon and hard to get hold of.

After putting in hours of work I have compiled a spreadsheet of all the pieces and their estimated quantities. Please click the link and check it out! Any pieces that are sold out will be highlighted in red, so be quick or the pieces you want may go.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12vdCFG3vxTeui0zMQCd3L4ZV0kCcfrMC5THKfvKk2go/edit?usp=sharing

If you see anything you're interested in, (including buying the entire lot) please email me at jamiesearle01@gmail.com and we can negotiate a price and work out how you will receive your pieces. Attached are some photos of everything in their current boxes.

Thank you for reading!

Project Ideas and Help / Selling - Need a hand
« on: June 03, 2017, 04:02:14 pm »
Right, so, I've come to the conclusion that I want to sell my k'nex. I haven't used it for about a year, it takes up too much space and realistically I'm probably not going to use it much if at all in the future. The problem is, I have so much and such a varied collection I don't know how to go about selling it. I know some of you people will be interested in specific parts and pieces (*cough* @GWorks ). Here are some general pictures about what I have. If you want more specific pictures and information feel free to ask.

1: All the little bits sorted. Most of them you can probably work out from the picture. Not all the compartments contain only one type of piece, for example one section has different types of hinges. Another section has pieces along the lines of the rod caps, hemispheres, small wheels etc.
2: Blue box filled completely with various wheels and tires.
3: A variety of motors, panels and them massive wheels I used in one of my ball machines.
4: Pieces relating to K'nex bricks and micro K'nex. Plus, micro K'nex roller coaster track
5: A few sorted micro K'nex rods. The rest are in the blue box in the picture above.
6: Box of big rods. A few broken grey rods in the top left compartment and a few broken connectors and rods and such in one of the compartments on the right. Some yellow rod sized grey rods in their own compartment, but the rest are with the rest of the yellow rods.
7: Gears. Giant yellow ones, medium red and yellow and grey ones, small grey and gold and blue and white ones, etc.
8: Massive box of connectors. Where all the connectors (apart from a few, such as the grey/purple 1-slot connectors which are in picture #1) go. Also contains some yellow versions of the 4-slot green connector.
9: Misc. pieces. Chain, some weird foam bullet launcher, a k'nex brick with LED's on it, K'nex men pieces, some tubing, bright green X shaped pieces, etc.
10: Some cyber k'nex I picked up: have no idea if it works or not.
11:Very heavy box crammed completely with instructions. Trust me, there's a metric butt ton of instructions in there. xD

So, yeah, there you go. How should I go about selling all this?!

General Knex Discussion / Loss of interest :(
« on: December 13, 2016, 05:26:35 pm »
Look, I hate to say it but now, getting out my K'nex and making something really feels like a chore. I've been doing K'nex for as long as I remember, much longer than I've been on 'Ibles or here or around the commununity, and I know lots of you have had K'nex longer, but I feel it's near the end of my time for it. I reckon the something I've been planning with someone else (will be a while before it's even started though) is likely to be my last build. I also haven't actually done anything here in terms of moderation and feel someone else would be better off taking over.
Other interests have taken over, and since I will be doing my GCSE's next year school has gotten pretty intense, reducing my time for K'nex. When I joined 'Ibles and here I wanted to make a big difference and expected to forever love K'nex, but I'm afraid that's not the case.
So, it's not a goodbye yet, it's just...a sort of explanation to why I've not made anything  :(
You people are awesome and I hope you revive K'nex :)

General Knex Discussion / K'nex inactivity
« on: June 10, 2016, 05:12:21 pm »
So over the last couple of months, I have been pretty inactive with K'nex. I have plenty of builds planned, plenty of 'Ibles planned, but not much time to do it all! My time is being sapped up by school, homework, and I have lost some interest and inspiration with K'nex. I will get back to it eventually, but currently I'm getting more into drawing and other hobbies. So I'll try to post something soon, but I cannot promise anything. I haven't given up on K'nex, I have just hit a plateau! It is so time consuming to build, take apart or make instructions for models. It's also pretty hard to do K'nex when you share a medium sized room with 3 younger brothers and your work space is cramped. So yeah, sorry for the excuses. I'm still active here though :)

Forum Games / Change one word
« on: April 24, 2016, 08:26:05 pm »
Change one of the words in the sentence before yours. For example:

I ate an apple

Then the next person would change one word:

I broke an apple

So I'll start off with:

My brother opened a drawer.

Forum Games / Make a sentence with 5 letters.
« on: April 24, 2016, 08:23:56 pm »
You have to make a sentence with the 5 letters the person before you wrote, for example:

I eat knex children daily
Bhzty

Then the next person would post something like this:

Broken horrible zebras tie yo-yos.

So,  I will start you off with:

POGIN

Site Feedback and Questions / 'Ibles importing
« on: April 23, 2016, 11:55:04 am »
Hey again ;) I have tried making instructions for my ball machine Freestyle! and for my Eyebot, however it won't let me import from 'ibles! I set my homepage to my Knexflux profile, but it still won't work.  ???

Hello! I have just finished the video for my new ball machine, Freestyle! however unfortunately it is blocked in Germany! So I have uploaded an unlisted video that can be accessed from the link below, without the music, so that video can be viewed in Germany.  ;D

Project Progress / K'nex Ball Machine No.3
« on: March 26, 2016, 11:02:52 am »
Hello  ;)  My ball machine that I am working on is getting massive, however my bedroom is extremely small so I have hardly and space. I'm not allowed to expand it horizontally any further, so i need some relatively small vertical elements. I cannot find much that would fit because the ball machine will be so compact! Some paths may have to merge into one another. I haven't made much progress because I have been very ill  :'(  . 1 path is complete and paths 2 & 3 are nearly complete. Paths 4 & 5 have a couple of bits made. I took a picture after every bit of progress. Here it is:
*Sorry for the low quality of some pictures  :-\ *

General Knex Discussion / More Mechanical Mechanisms
« on: March 13, 2016, 08:05:45 am »
k'nex need to add more mechanical pieces. This could include a range of cams, sliding pieces with teeth( Sorry I don't know the correct terminology ),  Spiral gears ( Again,  sorry ) and universal joints. These would bring a whole new dimension to k'nex! So many more amazing creations could be made with all these new pieces.

*Edit*:Me being the derp that I am, Gworks has designed a k'nex universal joint,  and I guess ball and socket joints kind of work.

Guns & Weapons / LLC V1.5 (+ Instructions) | A K'nex SMG

LLC V1.5 (+ Instructions) | A K'nex SMG
--> View Instruction

Hello! I am back with some improvements to my recently posted gun, Linkin's Lightning Carbine! I realized there was a lot to be improved in the gun, especially the stock. Before, the gun shot very inconsistently. With a couple of internal modifications I managed to fix this. Here is a list of my improvements:
  • The stock is smaller, and a nicer shape.
  • The barrel after the magazine is 3 layers wide, so the bullet has less friction.
  • The barrel extends slightly out of the gun. This is mainly aesthetic however it slightly increases the accuracy.
  • The top attachment rail is 2 parallel rails, not one center rail.
  • There is a mag lock that hardly works, but it pushes the magazine out instead of locking it, so it is more of a fast way to release the magazine.
The stats are roughly the same, maybe the range has increased a lot but everything else is the same. I included The Red Book Of Westmarch's grip (slightly modified) and red dot sight on the gun. Here is a link to the instructions for those attachments.

Project Ideas and Help / Semi Auto gun concept

The picture says it all. Here is a concept i designed however I'm not really sure it will work. :/
I forgot a pivot; a pivot where the green piece connects to the gear and where it connects to the trigger

Guns & Weapons / Linkin's Lightning Carbine (LLC) | A K'nex SMG

Linkin's Lightning Carbine (LLC) | A K'nex SMG
--> View Model

This is the first gun I have ever made by myself, and I am so happy with the result. After about five attempts, I decided to make a machine pistol. That machine pistol turned into an SMG pretty quickly. Now, I called it the Lightning Carbine because...a weapon name generator online came up with it for me . Now for the stats:
  • 6 inch pin (Excluding the connector)
  • SUPER comfy handle
  • Attachment rail at the bottom (Currently holding the grip here)
  • Iron sights
  • Small rail for sight
  • Comfy stock (The bit that rests on your shoulder curves and is designed by The Red Book Of Westmarch)
  • Removable pre-loadable magazine (Friction held)
  • Trigger guard
  • Shoots grey 1 slot connectors attached to a green rod
  • 7 layers thick
  • Sturdy
  • - Stock wiggles a bit
  • - Simple pin gun
  • - Handle sometimes breaks
  • - Sight rail obscures iron sights (When building this part of the gun, you can choose to have no attachment rail at the top, a single row, or two parallel rows)
I haven't included the range as I have nowhere to measure it and I have no idea how to measure it, however I speculate it can get about 30 feet.
Please tell me what you think of it down in the comments! Share and
 have a great day!

Bendy Spiral | A K'nex Ball Machine Element
--> View Instruction

Difficulty: Very Hard

Hello! Here is the final element from my k'nex ball machine 3XODUS. It is a spiral but doesn't use any tubing. This was a big challenge as I had to get the shape and steepness correct or the ball wouldn't roll down! I have made many improvements to it since it was on my ball machine. It is very well supported now. Remember that this is a very heavy element so make sure it is extremely well supported in your ball machine or it will fall off! Want to build it? Let's go!

Featured?! Thank you so much Instructables!
