Is this worth purchasing?
« on: October 01, 2018, 07:42:52 pm »
I was looking on Ebay and found an assortment of rods (blue up to grey, 105 total) for $18 US. Is a good deal?
All my life I thought air was free, until I bought a bag of chips.

I personally would say no. That works out to an average of 17 cents per piece, which is quite expensive. My own rule of thumb is never exceed 10 cents per piece when buying K'nex on ebay. K'nexUserGroup sells smaller rods (green-yellow) for 11 cents each. Longer rods are more expensive there, but you can probably find significantly better deals on eBay. You could probably find a cheaper parts-per-piece by buying actual K'nex sets at retail price, even.

That's my two cents, anyway. Best of luck with your part hunting!

Not really. I agree with @austron but I'd go further and say that buying individual parts in large amounts is often a really cheap way of getting specific parts. About 2 years ago I got 1000 red connectors for 10 bucks (I think...maybe it was 15). That averages out to 1 and 2/3 pieces per cent respectively. Just do some hunting for good deals. :)

Thanks, that's my signature.

How about a motor + 6 red gears for $12? Looking on the K'nex User Group I'd save about $6 NOT including the $3 shipping.
