Is there a flexi rod equivalent of a red rod?
« on: May 16, 2018, 07:05:08 pm »
I've always wondered why we have white, blue, yellow, and gray length flexi rods, but lacked a red length one. I'm curious if this piece actually exists or not, as I have never seen or heard of it before. I'd like to know if anyone has any information regarding this piece.
My power level is over 9000.

I've never seen that length. I have seen white rod, blue rod, yellow rod, and grey rod equivalent flexible rods but nothing for red rods. I don't think that piece exists. You can try linking two blue flex rods together and that will result in an equivalent to a red rod length if you are willing to overlook the connector link.

Wow, I never realized until you brought it up!
But also this is a part that I never felt was missing... unlike so many other parts haha.

You mean a green rod equivalent? It's so short, I can't imagine it being flexible.

There's no use for a green flexi rod... so this is understandable. But a red one... I mean, why not? curious.

Have you ever bought knex on ebay and got a weird, torn, plastic bag filled with unusual wheels and other knex pieces which are the wrong colour and don't quite clip nicely to the rest of your knex? You'd find a red flexi-rod in those bags.

But say K'NEX would introduce this piece, which colour would you like it to have?
I think I'd be happy to see a yellow or grey flexi-rod.

I've always imagined that it would be magenta or pink (they have pink rods that are the same as red rods and when I first saw it, I thought that it was a flexi rod).

I'd imagine dark blue or grey/black.

I was just thinking that maybe it has more to do with the times they were released. I'm gonna theorize here about what happened (I'm pretty sure it didn't happen this way, but hey, maybe it did!)

Grey rod length ones were first used in piece-based roller coasters (I think), so they were designed to be as long as possible while still being part of the system, thus they were grey rod length.

Yellow rod length ones were used on rollercoasters as well but only where a grey rod length one would be too long. (I'm guessing probably at the end of the roller coaster track they would be used to link the beginning and the end)

Blue and white rod length ones were released more recently for precision building.

And I guess they didn't add the red rod length because it's only cross compatible with blue rod length, which exists, so why make a whole new part that can already be made with a conversion? And really, there wasn't any flexible version of the red/blue rod structure system until then so I'll take it.

If this post makes no sense, I'm sorry. I'm too lazy to proofread and I suck at explaining stuff.
